| About the Trust |
| The North King Country Development Trust was formed in 1993 during the reforms to the electricity industry. In particular, the Energy Companies (Waitomo Energy Services Limited) Vesting Order 1993 and the establishment plan presented to the Minister under the Energy Companies Act 1992. The act saw the Lines Company (Waitomo Energy Services Ltd) as the successor of the power board, and as part of the establishment plan the Trust formed and was funded to assist in the stimulation of economic growth within the North King Country Region. |

| The Trust is overseen by a board of six Trustees: |

| To achieve its goal of stimulating economic growth within the North King Country Region, the Trust makes available funding assistance for local initiatives that contribute to the creation of a strong economic base and improve economic well being within the region. This assistance can be in the form of: |

- Product development and commercialisation
- Seed funding
- Research
- Funding equity for new business ventures
